Heidi Blackie MOT/L, CHT, CSCS
As an Occupational Therapist and an athlete, I have been on both sides of the "treatment table" for over 20 years. My passion for client wellness motivates everything I do. I work hard to understand issues and create solutions that restore bodies and minds to new potentials. Expertise in treating complex injuries and postural/movement retraining underlies my unique approach to problem solving.
As part of the King County fall prevention program, I had the opportunity to work with people in their own homes. Being in their environment granted a deeper understanding of the factors and limitations unique to their specific setting and their function in that setting, rather than trying to simulate and instruct from a clinic. This opportunity to be in a client’s own space evaluating and mitigating fall risk, combined with years of treatment and education surrounding injury, informs my holistic approach to teaching fall prevention classes and performing home safety assessments for aging adults.
As lead ergonomist at a hospital for over 10 years, I worked in an expansive landscape of settings, having to adapt and develop creative solutions to address the individual needs of each person or department. I bring this creative mindset to each evaluation and training session that I perform.
What differentiates me
Empathy, collaboration, dedication. My professional and personal experience with illness, pain and loss allows me to foster deep connections and empower clients to thrive from within. Whether it’s interacting with your workstation, walking your dog, hitting a golf ball or simply doing basic daily tasks with more ease, I specialize in optimizing function in all aspects of life—for all ages. I begin with a discussion of your current status, then we set goals and develop a realistic path forward together. I treat my clients with encouragement, sincerity, integrity and respect.
